If you’ve been battling dry, flaky skin and nothing seems to work then this simple, DIY cream might just be your skincare miracle. After spending hundreds on fancy moisturizers, I decided to go back to basics. Inspired by natural skincare traditions, I whipped up a cream using just three deeply nourishing ingredients and the results were shockingly good.
The 3 Hero Ingredients:
- Shea Butter – A skin-conditioning powerhouse, full of essential fatty acids and vitamins A and E. It softens, nourishes, and helps restore the skin barrier.
- Avocado Oil – Rich in oleic acid, antioxidants, and vitamins D and E, avocado oil penetrates deeply to hydrate and soothe even the driest skin without clogging pores.
- Vitamin E Oil – This antioxidant not only helps repair skin but also extends the shelf life of the cream naturally.
Melt the shea butter:
Place 2 tablespoons of shea butter in a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl over a pot of simmering water. Gently melt it until smooth.
Add oils:
Remove from heat and stir in 1 tbsp of avocado oil and 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil. Mix well.
Cool slightly:
Let the mixture cool for about 10–15 minutes.
Whip (optional):
For a fluffy texture, use a hand mixer to whip the mixture for 3–5 minutes until it becomes light and creamy.
Store:
Spoon into a clean, airtight jar. Store in a cool, dry place. It should last for up to 6 months.
How to Use It:
After cleansing, apply a small amount to damp skin, focusing on drier areas like cheeks and forehead. It absorbs beautifully without feeling greasy. After just a few uses, your skin will feel noticeably softer, smoother, and more elastic.
Why you will Love It:
- 100% natural and non-toxic
- No preservatives, perfumes, or fillers
- Perfect for sensitive or reactive skin
- Costs a fraction of store-bought creams
